Countertop on I Hate My Kitchen

This countertop was created for the DIY Network's show 'I Hate My Kitchen'. The show featured a kitchen in a 1920's Minneapolis home. DIY saw us at the Minneapolis Home Show and asked if we would be interested in providing a countertop. They wanted a unique wood counter top that was also 'Green', so Manomin Resawn Timbers was a natural choice. This particular countertop is made of Antique Elm. The Antique Elm we have comes out of barns in central Wisconsin and dates from between 1820 and 1880. It comes to us as timbers and is custom milled, stained, and finished. You can find show times for this episode of 'I Hate My Kitchen' at the DIY networks website http://www.diynetwork.com/i-hate-my-kitchen/a-cooks-cottage/index.html.

  1. This countertop is just lovely. Recently I have seen reclaimed wood flooring used as countertops and I have to tell this is a great decision. These countertops are massive, look completely unique and green. Congratulations.

  2. I have to say as well that this countertop looks so polished, almost too good the way a factory wood looks. I like the blemishes, knots and cracks that show up in this wood which gives it the antique look. My wife and I both appreciate real wood and when done in moderation it looks great. I bet she would like this countertop for the new kitchen I am giving her for Christmas. I was inspired by this very show your countertop was featured on when I passed by it on DIY in HD. I love how everything looks so sparkling in HD and so I have my DISH Network employee HD receiver set to HD only since I have more HD channels than any other provider. The HD is free for life with DISH too which is nice because I’ll use the money I save for what I assume a custom antique countertop would cost. This countertop reminds me of the bar I used to frequent with my dad when I was young.

  3. Since the wood used dates back to 1800's, you can be sure that that counter top complements the classic 1920s theme of the kitchen perfectly, especially its walls. No wonder the show staff trust you to come up with such a wonderful creation.
